1914-15 Star miniature keepsake medal with information. Easy to store with your research.
£3.50 inc. VAT

The 1914-15 Star was awarded to those who saw service in any theatre of war between 5 August 1914 and 31 December 1915, other than those who had already qualified for the 1914 Star. No fewer than 2.350,000 were awarded, making it the commonest British Campaign medal up to that time. The 1914 Star was awarded to all those who served in France and Belgium between 5 August 1914 and 22 November 1914. In 1919 King George V authorised a clasp bearing these dates for those who had actually been under fire during that period. The majority of the 400,000 recipients of the 1914 star were officers and men of the prewar British Army, the "Old Contemptibles" who landed in France soon after the outbreak of the Great War and who took part in the retreat from Mons, hence this medal became popularly known as the Mons Star. The 1914-15 Star and the 1914 were issued with the same ribbon in red, white and blue watered silk. The original medal was bronze. This miniature keepsake representation of the 1914-15 Star will compliment your research perfectly. It is easy to store and comes with an information card. |
