The badge depicts the cap badge of the Army Service Corps. It comes in a box with a clear lid but can easily be removed, worn and then replaced. We have put some interesting information about the Army Service Corps on the back of the box. Our Army Service Corps lapel badge is approx. 25mm x 25mm and has a safety brooch backing. The Army Service Corps had a pre-war strength of 5,500 all ranks. They were responsible for supplying the British Army with food, clothing and stores. By the end of the Great War the Army Service Corps had reached 350,000 men and in November 1918 it was feeding over five and a half million men and over three-quarters of a million animals. It operated over 125,00 motorised vehicles as well as horse drawn transport. The Army Service Corps sustained nearly 20,000 casualties during the Great War.
