Keepsake miniature British War Medal, complete with descriptive card. Easy to store.
£3.50 inc. VAT

The British War Medal was instituted in 1919 to record the successful conclusion of the Great War, but it was later extended to cover the period 1919-1920 and service in mine-clearing at sea as well as participation in operations in North and South Russia, the eastern Baltic, Siberia, the Black Sea and Caspian. Some 6,500,000 medals were awarded in silver, but about 110,000 in bronze were issued mainly to Chinese, Indian and Maltese personnel in labour battalions. It was originally intended to award campaign clasps, but 79 were recommended by the Army and 68 by the Navy, so the scheme was abandoned as impractical. This great little keepsake replica miniature medal is the perfect compliment to your family history research. If you have accessed the Medal Index card of your ancestor, check for a reference next to the BWM or British War Medal section to indicate that your ancestor was entitled to the original of this medal. The vast majority of all recipients were also entitled to the Victory Medal.
