Connaught Rangers lapel badge - perfect for collecting or wearing, or both! Sturdy metal lapel badge with safety backing. In 1881 the 88th Regiment of Foot became the 1st Battalion of the Connaught Rangers and the 94th Regiment of Foot became the 2nd Battalion of the Connaught Rangers. The regimental motto was "Quis Separabit" which means "Who shall separate us". This is also the motto of the Order of St Patrick. Prior to the outbreak of the First World War the Connaught Rangers consisted of two regular battalions, the 1st and 2nd Battalions, the 3rd (Reserve) Battalion and the 4th (Extra Reserve) battalion. In August 1914 the 5th (Service) Battalion was formed, followed by the 6th (Service) Battalion in September 1914, both part of Kitchener's New Army.
