Lapel badge depicting the cap badge of the Devonshire Regiment.
£4.59 inc. VAT

Our Devonshire Regiment lapel badge depicts the cap badge used by the Devonshire Regiment between 1901 and 1956. The symbol of Exeter Castle was adopted by the Devonshire Regiment in 1883, having been used by the Devon Militia for many years before that. The cap badge was originally produced with a white metal castle about a scroll bearing the regimental motto, Semper Fidelis (Ever Faithful) inside a brass circle bearing the name of the Devonshire Regiment on an eight-pointed white metal star. During the First World War an all brass economy version had to be produced to reduce cost and keep up with demand. Prior to 1901 a similar badge was used but utilising Queen Victoria's Crown at the top of the badge. Our Devonshire Regiment lapel badge shows the King's Crown, as used by King George V and King George VI. In 1956, shortly after the accession of Queen Elizabeth II an anodised version of the badge with the Queen's Crown was produced. In 1958 the Devonshire Regiment was merged with the Dorset Regiment to become the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment. Approx lapel badge size: Material: All metal with antique gold finish and safety clasp. |
