Victory Medal miniature keepsake with helpful information card. Easy to store as part of your research.
£3.50 inc. VAT

The Victory Medal was issued in 1919 to all who were entitled to the 1914 or 1914-15 Stars and most of those who were entitled to the British War Medal. Some 6,000,000 are believed to have been produced. It is often known as the Allied War Medal because the same basic design and rainbow ribbon were adopted by thirteen other Allied nations. Only the USA issued campaign clasps. The Union of South Africa produced a version with a reverse text in English and Dutch. The ribbon for the Victory Medal was a double rainbow with indigo at the edges and red in the centre. It was made of yellow bronze metal but had no gold or silver content. The front shows a standing figure of Victory holding a palm branch in her right hand and stretching out her left hand. The reverse shows a laurel wreath containing the inscription "The Great War For Civilisation 1914-1919" in capital letters. This minature keepsake representation of the Victory Medal comes complete with ribbon and information card. You can check your ancestors' medal entitlement by looking at the Medal Index Cards. |
